About
Megumi (they/them) grew up in Cupertino, CA in the '90s. They learned to code and design at a young age, building PHP templates that referenced SQL databases for dynamic content. In the '00s, they published Photoshop tutorials and Xanga templates. Their early obsession with the web as an infinite, fluid canvas shaped their philosophy on ‘designing for screens you cannot see’.
In the '10s, they worked as UX Designer in San Francisco. Later, they became a hybrid Product Designer and Product Manager. They researched, designed, and shipped consumer apps, two sided marketplaces, investor tools, and B2B products across platforms. Their early work on atomic design and bridging the gap between design and development led to a deep interest in design systems and design ops.
They went freelance in 2021, focusing on designing and building websites with technical rigor. They especially enjoy working with people who think carefully: researchers, scientists, academics, technologists, writers, archivists. They dream of a gentler, softer internet.
